Story Behind The Song
I spent 14 months in Townsville, Australia writing ads for a radio station. When I moved in to my unit I was happy to find I was living below an American girl who was completing her honors degree at the local university. We started out as friends but just when it had evolved into something great, she had to go back to the states because she graduated. I wrote this song with intentions of sending it to her to play in her Jeep as she drove around, in order to remind her how much fun we had and to encourage her to not rule out coming back.
Lyrically, it is the song I am most proud of. I wrote it in a few hours and the rhymes kept coming. And the fact that it all means something and it's not simply rhyming for whatever would sound cool, is something I'm really pleased with.
Influences for this song are Nelly (for the rhythm), Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Craig David, and the old Motown sound.
