She's On Top

Story Behind The Song

There's a lot of recent songs and music videos putting women back in a "pIeasurer of man" position. And I find it very unsexy. To me, a woman is most attractive when tshe is confident and self reliant. And most of the girls I know deserve a much better representation in media then some skanky girl in a bikini straddling a gold toothed gansta. So this song is my sexy, funky ode to the female. I just wanted something with alot of hype and a positive attitude. It's out there to make girls feel good about themselves. When I listen to a song I often put myself in it - My goal with "She's On Top" is for every 16 year old girl and 90 year old woman, and every female in between, to think this song is about them... even if for no more than three and a half minutes in front of the mirror singing with the hairbrush as a mic. My influences for this song were most likely Lenny Kravitz, the Eagles, Babyface, Prince, Beyonce, Michael Jackson and Jennifer Garner's TV show "Alias" (I pictured it in the soundtrack as I was writing it).

Song Description

"She's On Top" combines an irresistably rock riff with a sexy mid tempo R&B beat. I wanted something radio friendly, with a melody and beat the teens would like but with lyrics that adult audience could appreciate. The song promotes that women are their sexiest when they are confident and self reliant (to counter the overwhelming degrading depictions of women in a lot of music media today). I want females to think it's about them, and males to picture the girl I'm singing about (obviously the double entendre helps). The vocals are rock pop but with R&B phrasing. The low octave background vocals in the chorus emphasise the sexy content. It's fun, it's sexy, it's got attitude, it's smart, it's simple, it's radio.

Lyrics

Verse1:
Straight down the runway she comes only first class with a priceless precision as she wiggles that ?
Past all the cameras and the Puerto Rican guys but she don?t even notice she?s just rollin? her eyes

Prechorus1:
With all the cheques she?s cashin? she?s got passion for fashion
So look but don?t touch she?s way too much for you?

Chorus:
Don?t try to make her stay when she?s walkin? away and you better not talk when she?s got something to say
When you?re hot you?re just hot and it?s what she?s got and a woman can?t stop when she?s on top

Verse2:
Every time she?s out she wears that pout on her face like there?s no doubt about her as if she owns the place
But then when she smiles it?s like a sign from the heavens so sweet the whole street is left at sixes and sevens

Prechorus2:
Cos boys just want to see her girls just want to be her
But that?s just her career she says

Chorus:
Don?t try to make her stay when she?s walkin? away and you better not talk when she?s got something to say
When you?re hot you?re just hot and it?s what she?s got and a woman can?t stop when she?s on top

Bridge:
I don?t know how you do it like that girl show the world how you move it like that
Lookin? hot from the front to the back show the world how you move it like that

Prechorus3:
Ooh that look she?s givin? I don?t believe she?s livin? and won?t until she?s driven me mad

Chorus:
Don?t try to make her stay when she?s walkin? away and you better not talk when she?s got something to say
When you?re hot you?re just hot and it?s what she?s got and a woman can?t stop when she?s on top
