Story Behind The Song
Last Fall, after her husband was diagnosed with a terminal illness, Mary was driving home. The evening was beautiful; a thunder cloud was vying with the sun over a calm lake and this song came into Mary's head. Greg added a rich arrangement to complement the theme.
Song Description
A journey, however beautiful, is just a journey unless there is a loved one to greet you at the end of the road.

Lyrics
THIS ROAD IS GOING NOWHERE
Dedicated to Mary's husband, Brian.
Words and Music by mary Grimley. Arranged by Greg Garrett.
CHORUS THIS ROAD IS GOING NOWHERE
If it don't lead home to you.
That thunder cloud can crash and burn,
Those fireflies dance in dew;
That lake can smile its warmest smile;
Don't mean a thing
You see
THIS ROAD IS GOING NOWHERE
If it don't lead home to
You and me.
VERSE 1 We've walked THIS ROAD together;
We've lived where we found pay.
When we came to crossroads,
Love lit the way.
CHORUS But THIS ROAD IS GOING NOWHERE ( Repeat CHORUS )
VERSE 2 With you, THIS ROAD discovered
Computers, stars and jokes;
When I was lost, your hand was there-
The hand I needed most.
CHORUS Now THIS ROAD is going nowhere ( Repeat CHORUS )
BRIDGE I wish our road of memories would stretch far beyond the stars.
CHORUS For THIS ROAD IS GOING NOWHERE
If it don't lead home to you.
That thunder cloud can crash and burn,
Those fireflies dance in dew;
That lake can smile its warmest smile;
Don't mean a thing
You see
THIS ROAD IS GOING NOWHERE
If it don't lead home,
If it don't lead home,
If it don't lead home,
If it don't lead home,
If it don't lead home,
If THIS ROAD don't lead home to
You and me.
