APRIL IN PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY
Words and Music by Mary Cole Grimley and Greg Garrett

Verse 1
Always loved April in Prince Edward County.
Mourning doves feeding their young on our deck.
Daffodils spilling their gold on our pathway,
Sending the snow to the land of forget.
Chorus
For this is the County
Where breezes of April
Flatter rich buds
With the promise of May.
And here in the County
Sweet April is singing
To tunes of the plough-man,
The shepherd and me.
Verse 2
Always loved April in Prince Edward County,
East Lake reflecting a smiling blue sky.
Loons on the Bay flute love songs to each other.
Gaggles of geese wing their homeward fly-by.
Chorus
For this is the County
Where breezes of April
Flatter rich buds
With the promise of May.
And here in the County
Sweet April is singing
To tunes of the plough-man,
The shepherd and me.
Bridge
Here, by the Tip of the Bay,
Sailors dream of the summer,
Making ready the main-sail.
There, in Spring's clear ev'-ning star-light,
Lovers, strolling through Sandbanks, are starting to
Feel the magic of April.
Chorus
For this is the County
Where breezes of April
Flatter rich buds
With the promise of May.
And here in the County
Sweet April is singing
To tunes of the plough-man,
The shepherd and me.
Verse 3
Others may relish the heat of the summer
Or dream of ski-dooing or drinking ice wine.
But nothing compares with the beauty of April,
Warming the dunes with her morning sun-shine.
Chorus
For this is the County
Where breezes of April
Flatter rich buds
With the promise of May.
And here in the County
Sweet April is singing
To tunes of the plough-man,
The shepherd and me.
