British born to Nigerian Parents, Yvonne Ator is a world citizen. A 2nd year medical student who has lived in 3 continents, the "afrogypsy" calls the United States home where she's pitched her tent since 1994. Her eclecticity is reflected in her music which ranges from rock, folk, funk, latin and reggae. Yvonne's passion for music was stirred during her years in Nigeria, where the complex exotic rhythms of djembe, talking drum and congas were part of everyday life. However the imported sounds of Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Marley, Beatles were the mainstays of her existence. As a child, she sang in choir & played drums. Due to political unrest, Yvonne was forced to flee Nigeria back to London. She soon moved to the U.S where she studied Biology & Math & discovered the guitar & Ben Harper. Self-taught, she soon joined bands on campus and started writing songs of her own.
Now, Yvonne is on her way to fulfiling her dreams of becoming a doctor-musician following her muse wherever she leads.
