Story Behind The Song
I'm not sure how I came up with the phrase "Carousel Junkie" but somehow I did. Initially the lyric started with carousel junkie in the first line or two, after playing it for a few friends one suggested that carousel junkie should be the focus of the song instead of just a throw away lyric in the verse.
After some more rearranging the song instantly came together.
In the studio, producer Ed Toth suggested a bridge and it's placement and Carousel Junkie was officially born.
Song Description
Carousel Junkie starts with a solo acoustic guitar strumming through the basic progression of the song. Very sparse. The band comes in big and strong with an jangly distorted electric guitar leading the way. The lyrics are very accessable without being overly simplistic. The verses build into rhytmic preChoruses' and grow into an even bigger chorus with sing-along harmonies. We had some fun with the vocal performances in the bridge that leads right into the outro choruses

Lyrics
--MIX MINUS AVAILABLE FOR THIS TRACK--
You fall into me
Graceful as a trainwreck
You're stealing all my steam
I cannot quit you
Like a Carousel Junkie
I gotta go around again
And when you leave me
I'm down on my knees
And when you keep me
I'm begging baby please
I'm a Carousel Junkie
One trick pony
The tilt-a-whirl thrills me
you just throw me
Round and around
Babe I wish I was seventeen
You could school girl crush me
And not be my disease
Because when I had my innocence
I could ask all the other girls
Can I have this dance?
I'm a Carousel Junkie
One trick pony
The Tilt-a-Whirl thrills me
You just throw me
Round and around
If I say you're all I need
Then will you please let me be
Your carousel keeps turning
Round and round
