Story Behind The Song
This song was the first one I recorded with a Producer/engineer who helped me record songs I packaged and shipped to Music Industry representatives and shopped to artists.
I was amazed at how big the sound was when I got to hear the playback. I was bursting with ideas of how to record instruments, vocals, speed up, slow down, and reverse recordings.
The noteworthy discovery in this song came when I recorded the riff under the verse, then recorded a completely different riff under the first one. The result was this surprisingly big full sound that seemed to be just that...one big sound.
This song consists of a verse, bridge, chorus, break format that repeats itself until finished.
The lyrics were initially a poem I had written years ago, which I adapted and arranged to fit the song format mentioned above.
Song Description
A philosophical song about life happening and regardless of how bad things may seem to get, we still must endeavor to carry on. If not by choice, then, through the absence of any alternative. Once beyond the initial hurdle of discovering this truth, one can begin to appreciate things in life like a brand new day, or the joyful gyrations children make while outside at play.
In the end, one arrives armed with the pearl of wisdom that, life is cyclic and, if impervious to significant change, then not entirely devoid of some predictable alternatives. One such prediction being, that things gradually come full circle. Things like love, power, prestige, peace, enlightenment, liberation, happiness, joy, friendship and so on, will eventually arrive again. Thus, affording the opportunity for a second chance, armed with the new knowledge and wisdom acquired since the first time the opportunity came by.

Lyrics
The Unfinished Tale of a Brand New Day (or, "A Brand New Day")
Woke up this morning to a Brand New Day
Sun through my window scared my dreams away
Fell asleep last night with the radio on
Now it's playing some forgotten song.
The world keeps on turning people marching on.
Like time through space or the melody of a song.
I'm so glad it's a brand new day,
I'm so glad it's a brand new day
Think I'll go outside and watch the children play.
Well I woke up this morning turned my television on,
Got nothing but a satire about the people doing wrong.
So I changed the channel just to see what I could see,
A man came through the door and shot poor me.
The world keeps on turning people marching on.
Like time through space or the melody of a song.
I'm so glad it's a brand new day,
I'm so glad it's a brand new day
Think I'll go outside and watch the children play.
Well now's not the time to worry about the past.
Everything changes, times never last.
History rearranges since the very first dawn.
And midnight turns to daylight on my front lawn.
The world keeps on turning people marching on.
Like time through space or the melody of a song.
I'm so glad it's a brand new day,
I'm so glad it's a brand new day
Think I'll go outside and watch the children play.
