Story Behind The Song
After Katrina I was listening to an interview with Alain Toussant and Elvis Costello about a CD they put out to benefit NOLA. He talked about how he took a Professor Longhair classic, "Tipitina" and changed the chords from major to minor to come up with the opening instrumental. I thought, hey I kind of know that song and that's a cool idea. So I tried it. The lyrics just seemed to come out as so much trouble was continuing to occur. I think Mother Nature been trying to get our attention, but sometimes I wonder if we're listening?
Song Description
The song was in part inspired by both Katrina and the second Gulf War, but I didn't want to get that specific as this kind of man made bad news keeps happening. One day we might start paying attention, "here comes the new boss, same as the old boss..."

Lyrics
Same Old Story
Verse 1-
Say an ounce of prevention
Is worth a pound of cure
Just one thing I need to ask
What all those prisons are for?
Say you want to save the kids
You know they're oh so cute
Just wait a few more years
And teach them how to shoot.
Chorus-
It's the Same Old Story
It's the same old tune
Heard it all before
Well they say they got a brand new cause
For marching off to war
I don't know it seems the same this time
As all those times before
It's the Same Old Story
It's the same old tune
Heard it all before
Verse 2-
Say you've got Mother Nature
All under control
Mother Nature don't you know
She packs quite a blow
She don't take kindly to that
In the end she'll have her way
No matter what you do, no
No matter what you say
