Story Behind The Song
I had become familiar with the book, "On Death and Dying" by Elizabeth Kubler Ross. It chronicled the stages terminal patients go through. Later it was realized that these same stages apply to any significant loss. Looking back, I'm not sure how I ended up writing this song when I did.
Song Description
Denial, anger, depression, bargaining, and finally acceptance - these stages of grief are played out in a first person narrative of hearing one's terminal diagnosis

Lyrics
I had some time for living, that time is almost gone
Still wondering about my future, as my death is coming on
Wasn't quite expecting this, took me by surprise
I just had to deny, my imminent demise
Break
The anger welled within me, I knew it wasn't fair
Whoever passed this cup to me, didn't seem to care
Tried to strike a deal, for just a little more
Time to prepare, for what was in store
Break
I'll celebrate what's left, there's no more need to cry
I've come to accept, we all are gonna die
For me there's no fear, for the journey that's ahead
In the final day we'll meet again, but remember what I said
You had some time for living, that time is almost gone
Better face the future, cause you're death is coming on
