Story Behind The Song
Two high school associates lost their husbands suddenly, then my cousin lost her husband after less than a year of marriage. All sudden. Each woman was devastated. I would see them post on social media about their loss, and people would often comment "In time you will feel better" or after several months, they would post about feeling awful how no one understands how deep their loss feels and that they can't just "get over it".
It made me think about how when we grieve, even when people think that they are showing kindness, sometimes their words make us feel like we are not moving at their healing pace.
So I began writing this about the loss, and about how we need to heal in our own time, grieve in our own way, and moving forward doesn't look the same for any of us. We can move forward while still grieving our loss. "Silver Linings" is not always about finding that silver lining in every situation. Sometimes it just feels gray.
Song Description
Deeply emotional, yet soothing to listen to. We all grieve loss at our own pace, in our own way. "Silver Linings" is about that process, when people make you feel like you should be better by now, it is your own process.
