Story Behind The Song
I write a lot of songs. Sometimes I use books with writer prompts to get the brain going. This prompt was: Describe what you would see if you went down a rabbit hole.
Song Description
Going down the rabbit hole is an expression many people use. For me it means I want to sleep. I'm an insomniac. I want to dream. So I need sleeping pills to make that happen. Sometimes they work. Sometimes they don't. Sometimes they give me really cool colorful dreams. But most of the time they are really weird dreams like I stepped inside a cartoon.

Lyrics
Rabbit Hole
lyrics and music by Carolyn Messina (c) 2017
Tossin and turning no peace I can find.
Wrapped up in worry, can't turn off my mind
Tomorrow can't get here too soon.
So I count sheep and talk to the moon
Visions of all of the things that went wrong
dance in my brain to a childhood song
I wish on that star burning bright.
And watch as It fades from the night
Oh I want to go down that Rabbit hole and dream in bright colors again
Have tea with the cat or the man in the hat
Oh bring me to wonderland. Bring me to wonderland
Turn on the news it's a horrible sight
famine and fighting and shots every night
These images won't go away
So off to bed where I will pray
Here I am wide awake it's 2 a m
I guess My sleeping pill failed me again
I stare at the clock all aglow
Reminding me time passes slow
Oh I want to go down that Rabbit hole and dream in bright colors again
Have tea with the cat or the man in the hat
Oh bring me to wonderland. Bring me to wonderland
Where I'll waltz with the king of hearts
Tango with tweedle dum
Swim in a sea of tears
Race to get dry in the sun
Oh I want to go down that Rabbit hole and dream in bright colors again
Have tea with the cat or the man in the hat
Oh bring me to wonderland. Bring me to wonderland
