Story Behind The Song
I was having a good day after my first chemo. (I didn't know it doesn't hit you til a few days later). It was a sunny day in September and I took a drive down the shore (to the beach) and just watched the water and walked on the sand. It was a lazy day. A good day. One of very few during that time
Song Description
The song is a narrative. There's some "skat" in there because it felt fun when I was writing it and playing it. I hope you enjoy it too

Lyrics
Lazy Day
(music & lyrics written by Carolyn J Messina)
I got time on my hands
Shoes on my feet,
A tank full of gas and a head full of dreams.
Where will they take me today ?
I got a 20 in my pocket
A tuned-up guitar,
Half written songs in a pile on the floor
Oh.... what to do today ?
Take a drive to the beach with the windows down.
It really doesn't matter no one else is around.
Sing a bunch of songs at the top of my lungs.
It's a lazy day, nothin needs to get done
So I'll pack my car,
Set my GPS.
Head down south where there's a little less stress.
That's what I'm gonna do today
(instrumental/skat)
Take a drive to the beach with the windows down.
It really doesn't matter no one else is around.
Sing a bunch of songs at the top of my lungs.
It's a lazy day, nothin needs to get done
When my feet touch sand
and the sea hits my toes,
That'll be the moment when it really shows
There ain't no better way
To spend a lazy day.
To spend a lazy day.
