Hello Steve - Wow very humble thanks for the stars on my Halloween Nonsense, I came over and listened to some of your stuff here on BJ, I see why you've garnered so much success - your stuff is so absolutely perfectly mixed, the moods are instantly "there" - I think i could learn a lot from listening more, your approach is so direct. Not only that, your stuff is beautiful which in itself makes a profound impact. So much to learn. Again, many thanks !

Hey Steve, that's very generous, thank you! Right now I'm getting ready to go visit family - they got wiped out after Helene, I'm going down to
see what I can do to help, I'm so grateful everyone is okay, that's the main thing. Would be an idea to consider doing a collab when
we return, let me see if I can rustle up some kind of ideas for that. Okay take care, and thanks again Steve :)

Hello Diane, I've only had a chance to play a handful of your songs but I am totally knocked out with your versatility, musicianship, vocals and the quality of your songs. What an amazing talent you are! You are a rare gem in this field. What a treat to listen to all your great music! Count me in as another one of your fans. All the best, Harvey

Hello K - (The Karamatics) Well I have no idea why you haven't seen more commercial success, your stuff is AAA+++. I saw your tune was considered for that recent listing, after 159 song listens the client almost picked yours. That's I hope some measure of satisfying consolation. Sometimes (well lots of times) I wish the client would be more specific as to what they need. With that, I'm sure you'd nail it. Anyways Love your stuff, it's truly magical! Keep going! Cheers, Diane

Hi, Diane--thank you more than I can say for your wonderful comment. For the last hour I have been sulking that after my composition was selected out of 159 songs (as you pointed out), it was ultimately rejected. The story of my life! And like you also pointed out they just give you canned reasons as to why your stuff was turned down. But receiving your comment made my day. I really appreciate your taking the time to send me your comment. So nice of you! I look forward to listening to your songs, and I hope we will be in touch! All the best, Harvey (Rachlin)

Hi Diane,
Thanks for the review of AM Jam. Yeah, it'd be great to have live musicians on that one (like many of my tunes actually). That's an older one too... from back in my pre-Pro Tools days.

Hey there Chet, thanks for the stars on my tune, I've been a bit off the grid a bit as my lovely mom (100 yrs old) passed away this week - It hasn't really hit me yet, still feels she's around "somewhere". Anyways, I'm very appreciative of the ears, so big thanks! - diane

Hey Diane, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. I could never say "I know how you feel", as I don't. But I have a sensitivity to what you are going through. Lost my dad at 7, oldest brother when he was 45, next brother at 70 and my mom back in 1992. It is not easy, but I have great spiritual faith and know the transition is to.... Glory. Anyway, my prayers go out to you and your family. I wrote a wonderful song, "The Sands Of Time", about people passing it has a lot of hope embedded in it. Here is a link: https://chetnichols.net/single-the- sands-of-time.... I think it will comfort you. I hope so.

God bless and keep me posted how you are doing.

My Best,
Chester

Thanks for that Chet, I did listen to "Sands of Time" - yes very hopeful lyrics, we need more of that on this crazy planet don't we? I also listened to a few other tracks and was equally impressed with them, you're not only a great musician and vocalist, but a great lyricist too. Things are going along. This period of time has given me a unique chance to reflect on lots of good things, many of which I wouldn't have even thought about - so there's always some good somewhere eh? Go well, and thanks again, Diane

Hey Diane...thanks for the kind words. "Flying My Pyramid" was inspired by a dream I had of discovering a pyramid in the desert, got inside and found a way to fly it...

Check out "Ticking Stars"....it has BOWIE-like vibe to it. It is a great track....

And then, "Stairway To Peace" was inspired by a dream, too. Woke up and went in and laid the basic track down and it was done in 3 days. The next day, the Middle East broke out in war.... hmmmm.

Thanks, again....keep me posted...

You're very welcome, Diane. I just listened to "Well After Midnight," which, too, has a beautiful minimalist thing going, but I especially like the three distinct sections that are cohesive, the second section adding interest with more layers. My newest song is "Just Another Weekend," which is what my life was until I got married to Lora when I was 49. It's one of my lilting, bouncy tunes, with a story about all the busy things I did while longing and hoping for love. I found Sofi, the vocalist, on FiveRR. She's from Buenos Aires and she has a delightful folky voice. It's has my best mixing/mastering jobs but I think I'll move the bass closer to center. Most of my songs are autobiographical. I think my best melodies come from what I've experienced because they really express the feeling between and through the words. David Crosby was right that you have to write from what goes on with you if you're going to get down to something that means anything. That was from the CSNY "Four Way Street" concert album. (Pretty good musing if he happened to be stoned!) "Far From Home" sounds much better with Clay Collins on it as does "The Most of Nothing," which would probably win the Dewey Bunnell ("Tin Man") no-one-knows-what-the-hell-you're-t alking-about-stream-of-consciousnes s award. Anyway, come on by. I'd appreciate that! John

Diane, "Dark Patch of Sky" is wonderfully atmospheric and wintry, starting off with the minimalism similar to Harold Budd and ending with what George Winston would do, but definitely your own. I like it! John
