I'm inspired by how good you look in that suit. I haven't shaved in a month. Lol Thank you B. What you up to these days? How's the moonlighting these days brother? N
I keep an older photo up to remind me of my glory days :-). More working than producing at the moment--and I'm supposed to be retired. I'm looking to 2018 for more balance--as you know, the love of music is something special and can never be truly be replaced. The fire is still there! All the best, N.
Your best days are never behind you sir. You've learned, grown, matured, and haven't stopped music entirely. No. When life is holding you back? Often... it's just getting ready to sling shot you over the crowd. You're gonna burn long and bright my friend. Swing by if you ever need anything or have a great idea. Much love B N

Congrats on your placement.Everyday All Day. I put 3 songs in that listing also. SS
Thanks for the comment, SS--very unexpected but I'm thrilled about the selection! BJ has some great musicians so I'm just happy to still be in the mix after all this time. Had a chance to listen to some of your music--very emotional/powerful and great soundtrack pieces.
Thanks for the comment on my tracks.I'm going to start working on EDM tracks and Orchestral Try something different. You've had some good listings in the past.I haven't had any its really competitive.
I liked the EDM track, SS. I'm always looking for a new challenge as well. It is very competitive but as you know if you stay the course, something will eventually happen. I'm very selective in my submissions now (learned a lot over the years and it gets expensive). Now I only submit my best fitting song to the opportunity. At the end of the day, it all boils down to what the music supervisor likes/needs for the spot. Good Luck!
N, love the "Idols" track you pushed as part of you wakey, wakey BJ message...enough so that I'm dropping through to make a comment. Very Nicely Done--knew you were a talented dude when we first connected on BJ years ago...sky is the limit--make it happen, I'm rooting for ya!!
:)

I'm not trying to get too personal, I just wanted to know if it is worth it. I noticed you signed a bunch of music to MTV licensing and I know it all depends on which shows, how long the piece plays and so forth, but is any real money being made through these deals. Myself and a bunch of friends have been pushing music through broadjam for years with no success. I was just wondering is it worth the submission fees that we've been spending for nearly 10 years? some me a message if you can and give me some heads up.
Gary, You asked a valid question and one that I know many BJ artists (myself included) have asked from time to time. Please note that I'm speaking from personal experience so someone else may give you different response. That being said, the answer is "Yes", but it also depends on who and what you are submitting your music to in the first place. I like many BJ artist put a lot of work and money in to submissions in hopes of getting a placement. What I did that really made a difference for me was be selective in what I actually submitted my music to...it took me a bit to "learn" and "manage" my desire to submit to everything, but being selective is really about looking at the opportunity. The first time I had success with this approach turned out to be my first placement with a spoken word documentary through the Univ of Wisconsin. My technique: Read the opportunity, review your library, then read the opportunity again--submit only your best work and what you think is the right fit. I used the same approach with other opportunities (both on and off the BJ site). The results landed me the MTV license deal as well as other publishing opportunities. The reality of music licensing is that sometimes what you think is the perfect song is not what the publisher wants...that's the variable that you honestly can't control. I've been with BJ since 2005 and I can tell you that my license deals through MTV and others publishers have certainly paid for my membership over the years and then some...I've take a few domestic trips an bought some cool studio gear thanks to royalty checks. The patience really comes with waiting for the placement and the lag time of a PRO quarterly distribution. You're absolutely right about the amounts paid...lots of variables to deal with (time of day, # of plays, duration, etc). A good combination of those things will help immensely when the PRO calculates your quarterly payment. I can definitely understand the feeling of pushing your music without some type of success. I did it for a couple years too...and I still go through droughts where I submit and nothing happens. You've obviously got some staying power and your music is well put-together sonically (nice vocal work as well). I would tell you to be as selective as you can (find your niche) and even submit instrumental versions of your music. FYI: Most of my music that has been placed falls into the background instrumental category (playing under someone's dialogue)...it's still being used and that's what is important. There are lots of very talented artists out here, a fewer number of publishers/music supervisors and a limited number of placement opportunities--so it's really competitive to get you music placed. I'd recommend looking at multiple opportunities...that allowed me to break out from MTV and get my music on "Keeping up with the Kardashians" recently. Hope that helps a bit...again, one man's opinion. I can tell you that I would not have achieved the modest level of success I've garnered without Broadjam. -B Rob
