Sammi Lee has been named the Session 5 Winner of American Songwriter’s 2026 Lyric Contest for “Nobody Said Goodbye.” Inspired by her father’s time in the service, the song explores family, memory, and the lasting significance of moments we often don’t recognize until years later. This marks the song’s second American Songwriter win, following its Red, Write & Blue Song Contest victory, and another meaningful milestone in Sammi Lee’s growing career as an independent singer-songwriter.

Sammi Lee is an independent singer-songwriter from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, whose music is rooted in honest storytelling, emotional depth, and the complicated beauty of ordinary life.

Born and raised in Bucks County as one of eight children, Sammi grew up in a close-knit Catholic family and attended St. Charles Borromeo School and Conwell-Egan Catholic High School. Those roots, the importance of family, faith, community, and the stories that live around a crowded table, continue to shape the way she sees and writes about the world. Today, she is raising two children of her own, who have become an important part of both the life she has built and the perspective she brings to her songwriting.

Drawing from contemporary pop, Americana, folk, and adult contemporary influences, Sammi writes across genres while maintaining a distinct narrative voice. Her songs explore love, loss, resilience, motherhood, relationships, identity, and the moments that quietly change the course of a life. Whether the story is personal or written through another character's eyes, she approaches songwriting with the belief that specificity is often what makes a song universal.

Her work has earned recognition from American Songwriter, NSAI, SongwriterUniverse, and other industry platforms. "Nobody Said Goodbye" was named a winner of both American Songwriter's Red, Write & Blue Contest and its Lyric Contest, while "Heavy Shoes" was selected as an NSAI "One to Watch" and SongwriterUniverse's Song of the Month.

Sammi released her debut album, Last One Standing, in 2025, followed by The Leaving Kind in 2026. In addition to writing and releasing her own music, she continues to develop material for artist pitching, sync licensing, and original film and television opportunities.
