Hey check out the news on the 2011 SongDoor Contest in the Country Catagory. I can't believe that I placed three songs in the Final Five. The judging was blind so judges did not know who the songwriters were. This is a wonderful blessing and hopefully the next step in finding a home for my music. Take care and keep on writing!
Bio
Stephen Amos
Steve was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas and has been writing and performing since 1964. First introduced to guitar by Joanie O?Bryant, folk music historian, archivist and English Professor at Wichita State University, Steve was hooked on music as a personal expression of identity and culture. As part of a folk duo, he performed at The Cedar, a popular Wichita State University hangout while attending that university. After graduating, Steve was drafted into the United States Army and spent 4 years overseas where he continued his performing and song writing interests. He performed wherever he was and began documenting his own personal experience thru music. After being discharged in 1973 he toured Europe for 6 months prior to coming home. He then determined to pursue his college interest in psychology, eventually earning a Masters Degree from San Jose State University in 1976 and then his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Arkansas in 1980. During his graduate years he continued working on the craft of song writing and was able to have one song published and cut in Nashville. His total earnings on that song were $3.76, so he continued to pursue his education and ultimately found himself taking a position at the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine-Wichita. During this time, Steve discovered the Nashville Songwriters Association International and quickly became a member of the Wichita Chapter. It was at those meetings he met and began to co-write with Tina Dod. Tina and Steve currently serve as Co-Coordinators of NSAI Wichita and their song ?It?s A God Thing? was chosen as one of the six Finalists of the 2006 CMT-NSAI Song Contest. In addition, the same song won in the Country Catagory of the Songdoor Competition. After placing songs in the finals of several song contests in 2011 Steve placed three songs in the final five of the 2011 Songdoor Contest in the Country Catagory. Steve continues to work part time training pediatric resident physicians with the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine while maintaining a private practice in Andover, Kansas. Besides writing, Steve has a love of the outdoors, is an avid hunter, golfer and baseball fan. His CD, Prairie Bound, can be found at www.cdbaby.com or at Steve?s website www.stephenamos.com.

Hey, take a look at www.songdoor.com under the Country catagory for 2011. I am so proud that I have three songs in the Final Five. I found out that all songs submitted are evaluated blind, so the judges don't know who the songwriter is. So this is truly a blessing that my music found some kind ears. Thanks to Songdoor and everyone involved. I am truly overwhelmed and hopeful that maybe this may be the "Songdoor" that opens and allows for me to continue on this journey. Take care to all.
