Whittney Mikkél has extensive experience and training in several genres of music including classical and jazz performance, choral music, and contemporary rock/pop-based genres. Drawing on all her influences, she enjoys exploring several avenues of music. Her wide vocal range, technical expertise and stylistic versatility make her a chameleon in the music world. Even so, Whittney has developed her own unique voice as a singer-songwriter. Her ability to create meaningful compositions and self-produce them gives her an edge as an independent artist. Naturally poetic, her songs are both intellectual and soulful, filled with lush vocal harmonies, unconventional melodies, and progressions that catch the ear. When she's not teaching, rehearsing or performing, you can find her creating. She independently released her debut album 'Before the Day' on 10-01-2014 and is currently working on releasing several singles in a series of original songs featuring kalimba and vocals.
