ThumperD moved to Austin from Raleigh NC in February of 1998, after all, Austin is the live music capital of the world. He is a self-taught guitar player who spent most of his life listening to live rock and roll. He has done either staging, stage managing, sound or lighting for a dozen 3-day festivals including Woodstock and the Newport Folk Festival. He started playing in public sitting in front of the fireplace in between washing dishes at a restaurant where the J. Giels Band would play until 4 AM behind locked doors after eating dinner (The Theater at Orsen Wells, Cambridge MA.) He played at Don Ho’s mother’s bar in Kaneoe HI on a stage that was reached by climbing up a ladder. If you stood up, no one in the room could see your head. He played around Miami/Ft Lauderdale, his longest gig being a 6-month long 7-night-a-week jam session at the Riptide Lounge on A1A in Ft Lauderdale. ThumperD has played open mikes from Boston to Miami, From San Antonio to Des Moines.
