The Underground is soulfull, dynamic rock music for the person who wants more than catchy rhythms and meaningless, mundane lyrics. Mature, insightful, original, groove oriented but often with head banging goodness, The Underground has been blowing the minds of people in the Northwest as of late, with their powerful and versatile vocalist, Michael Hawk , putting some serious words and sonic melodies into the brains of those willing to listen. Scott Dosher, a veteran Seattle guitarist, is not afraid to test the bounds of time and space, with his infecting riffs. When Wes Moore is on the drums, he makes the whole sound explode with dynamic ferocity, delicious grooves, and precision hits! Tommy 1-Time balances the world of rhythm and melody with skill and thrill, pounding stomachs and hearts into a pleasurable sweet pulp. Danceable, head bangable, brain inflatable, ear palatable, this is The Underground
Michael Hawk
Michael has been singing his whole life, from making impromptu radio shows on his cassette recorder as a child, to singing in choir in school; cover bands, original bands, and guest appearances, Michael is a lifetime lover of the vocal arts. He was born in Paris, grew up in Miami, and has spent time in San Francisco, Maui, Boulder, Co., and now resides in Seattle. Michael's biggest vocal influences are Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Robert Plant, Mike Patton(Faith No More), Jay Robbins(Jawbox), and Michael Franti(Spearhead). He played bass and sang with Go,Nad.Go! in Boulder, who broke musical genres with creative flair, as well as The Funkonauts. After moving to Seattle in 2001, he sang in a Classic, and a Modern Rock cover band, with a repetoir of over 100 songs total. But the spiritual fulfillment and musical integrity was simply not there, so he quit and started playing with Scott and Wes in The Underground. Finally, the pieces fit, and the soul was back in place!
