Bio
“What we have here is some soul surreal hip hop.” A movement towards conscious, organic grooves crafted with vibrant melody and intelligent harmony. The place where introspective lyricism meets soulful inflection. The lavish tremolo of a Rhodes piano riding aquatic kicks and crackling snares. Long before theGenetics began this movement, genetics itself created an uncommon bond between identical twins Christopher and Jonathan Reynolds. Born and raised in Providence, RI, both developed a deep connection to urban music at an early age, latching onto classic soul, R&B, and hip hop artists. After high school, both attended college where they trained classically and performed in venues across the eastern United States and Europe. After graduation, financial obligations forced them into corporate America where they realized that a sound more vigorous than the tapping of cubicle keyboards resonated within. In response, they soon enrolled in Boston’s Berklee College of Music where “Amino” and “c-lvl”, theGenetics, were born. At Berklee, both were accepted into the competitive Music Production and Engineering program while continuing vocal training at the Boston Conservatory. Currently, the duo is advancing “theGenetics movement”, assembling a complete live band to support their upcoming artistically credible and radio ready full-length release, Urbanomics.
