Music bio for Ben Jaeger
Ben Jaeger is the band teacher and music department chair at James Madison Memorial High School in Madison, WI, where he teaches four curricular bands, music theory, and guitar. Together with his wife, Allison, who is also a music educator, Ben is Director of Residential Life and Student engagement at UW-Madison Summer Music Clinic, where they train and support 50+ college students and are responsible for the well-being of 900 middle and high school music students each summer.
Mr. Jaeger has been a conductor and presenter at WMEA state conference in 2017, WSMA Middle Level State Honors tuba coach 2017-2019, and was inducted into the Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity in 2017. He has been a music technology presenter three times for the Madison Metropolitan School District and serves on the leadership team at Memorial. He received the 2014 Teacher of the Year award from the Madison Area Music Association and has also received several grants from Foundation for Madison Public Schools, Student Supported Funding, and the MAMAs for developing student music programs in the MMSD.
Ben actively composes and arranges for (and with) the Memorial High School band students, and also writes for his own original rock band, Sunspot. Sunspot regularly records and tours, and has won several awards such as Artist of the Year from the Wisconsin Area Music Industry and Best Rock Album four times from the MAMAs. He and his wife Allison and their children Cecelia and Evaline live in Middleton WI.
