Stacey has been writing songs from an early age, but has recently unleashed a flood of new material with her arranger/producer Robert Stecko.

Her current songs range from the driving Pop/R&B anthem "Ain't No Skinny Little Thing" to the passionate Spanish guitar influenced "Blankets Of Rain."

Bio

Stacey Handler's true love has always been music. Listening, singing and writing.

She was born into an remarkably artistic and creative family. Her Grandfather is a phenomenal painter and her Grandmother invented the Barbie doll. Together, her Grandparents founded the Mattel toy company.

Her father Ken Handler was a talented pianist, gifted songwriter, movie director/producer and owned his own record label. Stacey's earliest musical memories are of listening to her father playing, Beethoven, Bach and Scarlatti as well as his own original compositions on the piano. Stacey and her dad would sit for hours at the piano where Stacey would sing standards, ballads and her dad's original songs.

Her parents encouraged her to take singing lessons. Her extensive voice training began at age ten. Over the next decade, Stacey went on to study with five different singing teachers. She established a solid legitimate soprano technique and then went on to study belt, jazz and pop/rock singing.

Sometimes Stacey would bring original poems to her dad who would then set them to music. They started writing songs together and Stacey realized she loved songwriting as much as singing. She went on to write songs with JD Steele and record them at Prince's studio Paisley Park.

Stacey's dad died the night before her wedding. Her life became a blur after that, causing her to withdraw from singing and anything musical that reminded her of her dad. After a painful divorce, Stacey found clarity again and started getting her life back on track. She wrote and published her first book, "The Body Burden, Living in the Shadow of Barbie." She did many public speaking engagements helping women deal with negative body image. At the Soap Summit she urged soap opera producers and writers to be more open to plus-size characters in daytime television. She and her book have been featured in a number of magazines, TV and radio shows.

For years Stacey avoided going back to singing because she was afraid it would remind her too much of her dad. When she finally started singing again, she realized that instead of missing him, she felt closer to him. She saw that by sharing her heartfelt songs with the world, she was keeping part of him alive.

When she started working on her music again, it led to an explosion of creative activity. She remembered how much she loved singing and put together a whole new live concert act. She wrote a flood of original songs with producer/arranger Robert Stecko.
