Story Behind The Song
Hard to write a good war related song.... but you did it! Love to hear acoustic and vocal! Nicely done.
Not a big fan of talking a verse... but this one worked.
 Good story telling and emotion.
That's a 5* for me!!! Not sure I'd change anything.

																Lyrics

									AMERICA's EAGLE
                                    (A Soldier's Tale)
                                        (STEVE DAFOE 2005)
                                              (COPYRIGHTED)

CHORUS :

And the eagle lets out a scream
Cries out over another shattered dream
For soldiers who die
For someone's cause...
A noble cause
But the eagle lets out a scream
Tired of these shattered dreams
For the fathers and the son's
And all their little one's
It's for a noble call
For that, they'll fall...

Verse 1:

He remembers with misty eye's
Now so old and very frail
A great war...he didn't question why
The fighting fierce..there could be no fail
He prays to his God as his friends all die
Thinks of his wife and children
Amongst death and falling men
The second war to end all wars
And when it did his son was just ten

Verse 2:

Continues his story with trembling words
About his only boy and now a grandson
Worried 'bout them facing future enemy guns
About to be real with Vietnam

He prays to his God as his son dies
Thinks of his son's wife and child
Never a chance to say goodbye
When the blood dried where war had been
And when Saigon fell....his grandson was just ten

Verse 3:

His voice lowers ....his eye's die
Friends gone and his son now dead
Now a grandson off to war ...he questions why
But too weary to think, slumps on his bed
He prays to his God as his grandson dies
Thinks of his wife with no children
Senses the great grandson that should have been
Another war to end all wars
He just wants another grandchild just about ten
Play one more time with his son just 'bout ten...
Play one more time with his son just 'bout ten...
