Lyrics

THE DREAM

Last night I dreamed I slipped into the darkness
The life I left whirled quickly through my mind
I watched in muted fascination
That shadowy and ghostly pantomime

I searched each passing face, but couldn't find her
Among those gone before, those who remained
All moving to the lilting rhythm of
A distant, haunting, beautiful refrain

And it sounded so familiar, yet a melody I'd never heard before
Like calm waters gently washing on a quiet, sunlit shore

I woke to find her lying next to me
And felt so grateful for my second chance
Then suddenly I knew she was the music
Weaving through that magic shadow dance

Reaching out my hand I tried to wake her
To tell her of the dream I had last night
A touch she couldn't feel, there was no dream at all
With one last look I started moving tword the light

I finally realized it was no dream at all
Turned and walked away into the light
