Lyrics
SOMEONE"S WAITING Copyright Rae Welch 2006
Verse:
I feel the wheels touch the runway
Soon they'll shut those engines down
Bring that walkway to the cabin door
I'll have my feet back on the ground
Verse:
The last few hours of this journey
Have been the longest of my life
In just minutes now, I'll be holding
My baby girl and my sweet wife
Chorus:
Someone's waiting, I can feel it
I can taste my welcome home
Will they know me, have I changed
From all the hell I've known
We've been apart more than a year
This war's not over, but now I'm here
...and someone's waiting
Bridge:
A soldier's leave isn't all that long
Those engines sing their goodbye song
...and someone's waiting
Verse:
The honor guard waits on the runway
There's daddy's little girl and his wife
He's coming home, he'll never leave again
He lies beneath the stars and stripes
Chorus:
Someone's waiting, can you feel it
Can you taste his welcome home
Did you know him, has it changed you
Did you share the hell he's known
He's been away more than a year
But now it's over and he's here
...and someone's waiting
