Story Behind The Song
There was a contest to write and compose a song for American Idol, so I got busy and completed one that might represent the feelings, dreams and asparations of some of the contestants. The winner of the contest would have his song performed by the winner of American Idol. I got everything ready and started the submission process the found out that I was ineligible because I live in Arizona. So I'm submitting my song here on Broadjam

Lyrics
I SET EM FREE © 2008 by Pete Hansen
With just a song that was conceived.
I took a gift that I believed in,
to a place, with nothing more,
to get my foot into the door.
I sang my soul out from the start.
Emotions stirring in my heart,
would not be still or be denied.
Could'nt hold them back,
Lord knows how hard I tried.
So I set em free,
set em free to take my heart and soul,
wher ever they may lead.
Set em free to lift my voice to sing,
where ever that may be.
One night while in a restless sleep.
These dreams came to me,
wild and deep.
To tell me they can't wait no more,
embraced and led me
through the door.
Of all the things I ponder on.
Like fleeting visions come and gone.
I just can't for the life of me,
know why these dreams were
reaching out for me.
So I set em free.
Set em free to take my heart and soul,
where ever they may lead.
Set em free to lift my voice to sing,
where ever that may be.
Set em free to take my heart and soul,
where ever they may lead.
Set em free to take my songs and fly,
to where ever that may be.
Beyond the things I'm wishing for.
In all the dreams that I adore.
I thought I held them secretly.
Then found my dreams were always holding me.
