Peace And Harmony

Story Behind The Song

I wrote this song basically for an opportunity which requested folk music so I just thought I would give it a go. There is so much negativity in the world today so there was really little problem in writing the lyrics for this song.

Song Description

The first verse is about racism in the world today and that we should all come together as one to solve are problems rather than fight against each other just because we all look different. The chorus is a positive reflection of that. In the second part of the song it's about the wars happening around us today just because of greed, wealth and power and the aftermath of this.

Lyrics

Makes no difference if you're black or white
So isn't it time to put to right?
Hold out your hand to stop the fight
Can't we see that we are all the same?

It doesn't matter of the colour of skin
It's the love inside that's deep within
That matters most so don't give in
to discrimination and hate.

The biggest dream of mine would be, to live as one big family
Isn't that how life should really be?
Instead of wars raging on and on, maybe we should right the wrongs
And pray that one day of peace and harmony
Will come together so we can all be free.

(Spoken)
Wealth and greed they forget the cost
As men fight on lives are lost
Eyes of green as the fields colour red
As nobody learns as they count the dead

All this war is just insane
Will peace ever be fulfilled again?
While the rest of us all watch in vain of the terror that unfolds.
Many people starve and die while others simply turn a blind eye
Isn't it time we said goodbye to suffering, grief and pain?

The biggest dream of mine would be, to live as one big family
Isn't that how life should really be?
Instead of wars raging on and on, maybe we should right the wrongs
And pray that one day of peace and harmony
Will come together so we can all be free.
Will come together so we can all be free.
And pray that one day of peace and harmony.

Every folksinger needs a peace song...and I love this one. It's sincere, right from the heart and echoed my sentiments exactly, especially seeing the terrible things that are going on in our world. Instead of wars raging on and on...right the wrongs....love this. Simple production suits the song well, makes it even more real and sincere. Kind of reminds me of Bob Dylan. Bravo!
