Story Behind The Song
This song is about a woman who wanted to get married and have a baby after high school. However, she was pressured by her mother to get a college degree and get established in a career before getting into a relationship. Now in her early forties and still single, she longs to find the man of her dreams and have a child.
Song Description
This is version 2.0. I swapped out the vocal intro with a lead guitar intro. Influences: Kim Carnes; Janis Joplin; Miley Cyrus; and Adam Sandler. Also, the clapping is reminiscent of one of my favorite movies "The Three Amigos" with Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Martin Short! :0) Clark Griswold rules! ;0)

Lyrics
Verse 1:
When I heard you say, "I do," I nearly broke down
Means I'm the only single girl in the crowd
You can blame it on the overtime, my need for finer things
And growin' up poor as a kid
Chorus 1:
Those words are buried in my memory
Next to mom yellin' school, career, family
Who has time? Gotta catcha flight
I dream about havin' a baby at night
My friend, you wish you were single like me
A CEO of a big company
You gotta man to go home to at night
Yeah, I'd rather...ah-ahhhh...be a wife
Verse 2:
I never thought he'd be there when I turned around
Bill was "Mr. Popular" and the class clown
I had a crush on him like every girl did
But in his eyes I was "a fat kid"
Chorus 2:
Those words are buried in my memory
Next to mom yellin' school, career, family
Who has time? Gotta catcha flight
I dream about havin' a baby at night
My friend, you wish you were single like me
A CEO of a big company
You gotta man to go home to at night
Yeah, I'd rather...ah-ahhhh...be a wife
Bridge:
Don't get me wrong now
Sure I wanna live a good life
I'm married to my business
I'd rather be a wife
Chorus 3:
Those words are buried in my memory
Next to mom yellin' school, career, family
Who has time? Gotta catcha flight
I dream about havin' a baby at night
My friend, you wish you were single like me
A CEO of a big company
You gotta man to go home to at night
Yeah, I'd rather...ah-ahhhh...be a wife
