Song Description
"Didn't Make It On My Own" is a personal, straight-up gratitude letter to God. The narrator openly admits that, even back when they were "still out there doing wrong," the Lord was watching, protecting, and carrying them. Now, on the other side of that life, they recognize that it was never about their own strength: it was the Blood that covered them, the favor that followed them, and the love that held them when "the enemy did everything to kill me."
The lyrics move through vivid survival images: walking through burning sand in the desert, enduring storms, rain, valleys, and famine, yet coming out whole, disease-free, and safe from harm. There's a strong testimony of deliverance from past transgressions and distractions, replaced by renewed strength and a life guarded by God's care. Musically and thematically, it sits comfortably in the contemporary Gospel lane as an encouragement song for anyone who knows they shouldn't have made it this far, but did--because He carried them.
