Story Behind The Song
A close member of our family was going through a divorce. It was a hard break up. The spouse had lied about who and what they were. I spent time comforting the family member who was stunned by the realization they had no idea who the spouse really was.
The goal of the song is to capture that emotion of anguish and betrayal. I hope the goal is achieved.

Lyrics
I Don't Know You
Karmann Powell copyright 2011
It's two in the morning
Sleep has not found me
Weighing my mind is you deceit
I hear you snoring
Peacefully dreaming
No problems at all
No forgiveness to seek
I thought I could change you
I thought I could mend the broken part
That kept you from the desires of you heart
I knew what to do
I thought I could turn the wrong to right
But on this sleepless night
I find -
That I don't know you
I really don't know you
I don't know who you are
I gave you my all
I invested in you
Why I still love you
I can't say
You've broken my heart
You've torn me apart
Things weren't 'spose to turn out this way
Hey Hey, ooooooo
I lay down beside you
I feel you breathing
I've seldom seen that side of you
That's tender and loving
Gentle and caring
You showed that to her despite all that I do
I thought I could change you
I thought I could mend the broken part
That kept you from the desires of you heart
I knew what to do
I thought I could turn the wrong to right
But on this sleepless night
I find -
That I don't know you
I really don't know you
I don't know who you are
