Story Behind The Song
Not My War was written when the war in Ukraine began. Nothing around us had physically changed -- our streets were still quiet and our homes still safe -- but the feeling of safety disappeared almost overnight.
The conflict suddenly felt too close to ignore, yet at the same time too far away to do anything meaningful about it. That strange tension stayed with us: being safe, but not feeling safe. Watching events unfold while feeling powerless to help.
The song explores that uncomfortable realization that distance does not make us neutral. Sometimes the only response we can offer is to refuse to look away. Writing this song became our way of acknowledging that moment.
Song Description
Not My War reflects the emotional tension of witnessing war unfold nearby while feeling powerless to change it. The song explores the moment when distance no longer feels like neutrality and the realization that ignoring suffering does not make it disappear.

Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I am safe in my home,
That's why my ignorance grew
If I'm so fine now
Why don't I feel fine now
I sense there's a storm
But it's outside of my view
I need to find out -
Do I need to find out?
[Chorus]
Are we blind to see
This happened before
They always want more
No matter the cost
And if you think
It's not your war
When we just ignore
We've already lost.
[Verse 2]
I want to speak up
But I'm keeping my voice
Keep wearing my gown
Feeling like a mime clown
I'm caught in the chains
Of the freedom of choice
And I am chained down
My choices keep me chained down
I have nothing to gain
But so much to lose
And I feel filthy
So comfortable, yet filthy
I have so much pain
From my helplessness bruise
And I feel guilty
Why do I feel guilty?
[Chorus]
Are we blind to see
This happened before
They always want more
No matter the cost
And if you think
It's not your war
When we just ignore
We've already lost.
[Bridge]
But you are there -
I can't ignore
I'm not afraid to do more
Started as yours
Now my own war.
And I will be louder than before.
[Chorus]
Are we blind to see
This happened before
They always want more
No matter the cost
And if you think
It's not your war
When we just ignore
We've already lost.
