Sanctuary from the Blues

Story Behind The Song

Out of the run of the mill (not having the conventional first line of words repeated as the second) this twelve-bar blues was one of our first long-lasting and much performed compositions. It has been a cornerstone of many a live set.

Song Description

This song has been tinged with a number of stylistic colours through the years. Here we take a strong world beat and particularly pleasing is the little orchestra of electric guitars. (KM Dec 07)

Song Length 4:15 Genre Blues - Modern

Lyrics

I don't need too much overt affection
It,s usually most for show I would say
I don't need moral correction
But thanks for the offer anyway
Oh, when it's time to choose
I want you
For sanctuary from the blues.

I don't need too much heavy action
Just a sweet release now and then
I don't need total distraction
Just a good thing on the right side of pain
Oh, when it's time to choose
I want you
For sanctuary from the blues.

I don't need my attitude changing
Though I know that you're too young to care
But you got something that's special
I didn't think I'd find again anywhere
Oh, when it's time to choose
I want you
For sanctuary from the blues.

There are people pointing fingers
Just like they always do
But given half a chance I know
They'd like to try their tricks out too
Oh, when it's time to choose
I want you
For sanctuary from the blues.
