Story Behind The Song
Basic written during a breakup. Was submitted in about 1979 or 1980 to a national country music contest judged by DJs. It won runner up at the national level - one more notch and it would have been recorded by Barbara Mandrell - who signed my award.

Lyrics
If You go your way, and I go my way
And it turns out to be the same way
Dry your tears and face your fears and stay today
But if you go your way, and I go my way
And it turns out not to be the same way
Then maybe we'll see eye to eye another day
Time and time again you walked out the door
And I don't want to see you go away anymore
Make up your mind this time to either stay or go
All those other times you walked out the door
you hurt me and I never knew what for
But I ain't going to let you do it to me anymore
Make up your mind this time to either stay or go
So if you go your way, and I go my way
And it turns out not to be the same way
Then maybe we'll see eye to eye another day
