Story Behind The Song
Song for my wife when I was touring out of state. "Juanita" was the name of my drummer's high school sweetheart. He started playing this afro-cuban rhythm, and I joined him with the main guitar lick. I formed the lyrics around my wife and me.

Lyrics
In Southern Mexico, Juanita waits for me.
She reads again my letter and she sings her Spanish key.
I'm headed down to bring her back as soon as I can leave.
She's checking every sailing ship for the one that carries me.
I met her down near Richmond 'bout a month or two ago.
She was running from the waters of her Gulf of Mexico.
And we spent every day and night together hand in hand.
Now she waits for me to bring her back to my Virginia land.
Juanita - hair dark and skin so brown.
Juanita - I am now Mexico bound.
Juanita - Lonley, but so far away.
Juanita - I'll be coming back for you one day.
She spends her days along the beaches, hoping I'll pass by.
She's checking every tourist there to try and catch my eye.
Her home is now in Veracruz, but she is northern bound
as soon as I can find a way to leave this Virginia town.
Juanita - hair dark and skin so brown.
Juanita - I am now Mexico bound.
Juanita - Lonley, but so far away.
Juanita - I'll be coming back for you one day.
