Story Behind The Song

Written in college, I was inspired in a moment of temptation to pen the chorus. Later that day, I added the verses and bridge to support the idea of the song.

Song Description

We are able to overcome Temptation by believing that we are never presented with more than we can handle, and choosing to walk in the 'pre sin' grace God gives us to daily choose life over death.

Lyrics

Well I was walkin' along in my daily routine when the temper decided to see if he could get me down, like a smile to a frown: "How gullable could he be?"
He started to remind me of all my past and all the many times that I have failed. And I decided I'd had about enough o' that mess, and said, "Satan, go back to hell!"

And I said, "Satan, get behind me; I'm not listening to your lies. Jesus, You're before me; continue to open my eyes. I wanna see You, touch You, feel You, and commune with You." Satan is defeated, and Jesus reigns on high!

Well, in the Christian walk it's inevitable that Satan's gonna come your way. He's gonna try his best to steal some o' your zest, and make you say things you ought not say. He will probably begin by tellin' you, "You're an illegitimate child." But don't you dare listen to those deceiving lies. Just lift your head and smile.

So whenever you are tempted by the ways of this world just claim in Jesus' name that you are strong! And if you need a little bit of extra help just sing the chorus of this song...
