Story Behind The Song
As a recent emigree to LA myself, I found it fascinating to encounter a good number of men who always come off rather tough and cool but who once you got to know them, you realize it's really a veneer they take on in an effort to be part of what they think it means to be in LA. Some of them have never been anywhere but act so world weary it's funny. I saw a "cowboy" attitude in terms of being cavalier and lonesome, but I also found it sad that in some ways it seemed they had forgotten their roots, and the coolness they display doesn't really hide any real strength. LA Cowboy is just a bit of humor to say, you want to be a cowboy but you really ain't.

Lyrics
LA Cowboy
He don?t ride horseback and he don?t wear a gun
He?ll never try and make you face into the sun
Never laid his head down under a moonlit sky
And he?ll always trying to leave you, honey, without saying goodbye
And he don?t know who he is anymore
He still thinks he?s crazy so quick on the draw
Because
He?s just an LA Cowboy
He?s just an LA Cowboy (boy)
He never leaves his backyard, never been out of town
Second hand lovers leaving, don?t seem to hang around
Won?t get a sadder expression, no, I know, he won?t ever say he?s down
Cos he don?t know who he is anymore
He still thinks he?s crazy so quick on the draw
Because
He?s just an LA Cowboy, oh yeah
He?s just an LA Cowboy
And he don?t know who he is anymore
He still thinks he?s crazy so quick on the draw
Because
He?s just an LA Cowboy
He?s just an LA Cowboy
Oh yeah, just an LA Cowboy, yeehah.
