Story Behind The Song
This song was written during a time of physical distance between Angel and myself. It was a reflection on how true love is not often an ideal and that any transformation or change affected by it, recognizes what is. Angel initially offered this to me with lyrics and the rough melody, which we then developed together later.
Song Description
Half Light is an ode of gratitude and wonder to the love given by a woman to a man fallen through his errors and missteps. Through the "half-light" of her love, he finds redemption from a base way of being and doing. Half-light refers to an avoidance of glare and judgment, and how her kind yet truthful view of him, allows him to transform by choice.

Lyrics
She loves me like half light
a little warm yellow
a soft sun persuading
my sweet earth to grow
She shines without brightness
makes me see through the dark
with a beckoning kindness
I can feel my way through
Oh to you
Chorus:
Cause I've been on my knees
Been on my knees
Somebody please
Can you see?
Too much time in the mud
Playing with blood
Can you see?
She sees right through me
all the bluster and pride
gets blown by the tide
I got nothing to hide
She takes me as I am
the unedited version
all my ties and my lies
god, she taught me to fly
to the sky
Chorus:
Cause I'm up from the floor
straight as before
somebody please
can you see?
I'm back no matter what
I can feel it in my gut
Can you see?
Bridge:
Of all the things I could do wrong, I did
And all I left twisting in the wind
All the tears for my pride
All these years
She loves me like half light
her love is a glow
takes me back white as snow
to the sweet earth to grow
