Story Behind The Song
I actually uttered the hook of this song to my husband one night when we were out to dinner & he'd had a couple glasses of wine & was being unusually talkative. It just got me thinking about an exaggerated version of this, a relationship in which your partner almost never lets his guard down, so you only get glimpses of the soft underbelly of person you are in love with.
Song Description
The singer longs for her lover to be more relaxed & open around her, like he is when he's had a few drinks, or when he's drifting off to sleep. When his guard is down, she feels like he is really in love with her, but the rest of the time, she can't tell because he's closed to her emotionally.

Lyrics
Little Bit Drunk
I like you
Just a little bit drunk
With your guard down
A little bit ruffled
I like you
Just a little bit slower
A little bit softer
A little more vulnerable
Why can't it be that way
Why can't it be that way
Why can't it be that way
More of the time?
I like you
Just a little bit sleepy
With your eyes closed
Half way to a dream
I like you
Just a little bit bleary
When you're speaking
Without thinking
Repeat Chorus
In the space between intoxicated and sober
In the moments between wide awake and asleep
I see you in all your beautiful colors
And your softer side seems to be more in love with me
I like you
Just a little bit drunk
With your guard down
A little bit ruffled
