Story Behind The Song
I guess I've just had one too many friends who have had to overcome crazy crap, like cancer, and wanted to write a song to honor their bravery and strength. This song started with the groove and I just plunked the words in from there. I was trying to write something to a quirky beat - that's where those "parenthetical" lines came in. Was just a fun song to write and I love dedicating it to friends who I know who are survivors of all kinds.
Song Description
The singer recalls events in her life that could've knocked her down but stays true to her mantra that she isn't an ordinary woman.

Lyrics
Been struck by lightening (stung a little)
Been bitten by a lion (left a little mark)
Been tempted to hide behind these memories
But I got a little mantra & It's gotten me this far
CHORUS
I am not an ordinary woman
Seen more than my share of troubled times
I could choose to play a victim or a martyr in this life
But I didn't, no
I am not an ordinary woman
Been ambushed by villains (I bled a little)
Been buried underground (got a little dark)
It'd be easy to turn off all the love in me
But I'd be the one to suffer if I harden my heart
REPEAT CHORUS
Every battle scar
Every broken heart
Has strengthened my conviction
REPEAT CHORUS
