Song Description
What makes "Tex-Is the Reason" special to me is that it does not try to solve heartbreak or provide a perfect ending. Instead, it embraces the truth that some loves remain part of us forever. No matter how much time passes, certain people continue to live inside our memories, our music, and our hearts. This song is about carrying that feeling with you -- and realizing that sometimes the reason you keep moving forward is also the reason you can never fully let go.

"Tex-Is the Reason" was written as a cinematic love story inspired by the timeless romance films and songs that stay with us long after they end. While writing this song, I kept thinking about those unforgettable movie moments where two people meet unexpectedly and forever change each other's lives, even if time, distance, or circumstance eventually pull them apart. Those stories connect with people because most of us have experienced a love or memory we could never completely let go of.
I wanted this song to feel like a midnight drive through Texas, neon lights fading in the rearview mirror, thunder rolling across open plains, jukebox melodies echoing through old bars, and memories that refuse to disappear. The early versions of the lyric were much wordier, but through rewriting and simplifying the song, I discovered the emotion became more powerful when the words were more direct and honest. I wanted each verse to paint a picture while leaving room for listeners to place their own memories into the story.
"Tex-Is" became more than just a character in the song. He represents the kind of love that brands itself deep into your soul, the kind that follows you through every town, every highway, and every lonely moment long after the relationship itself has faded. The imagery throughout the song was intentionally wr

Verse 1
Met him in Dallas on a Saturday night,
Band was playin', stars all fell in line.
He smiled through the smoke with a look in his eyes,
The kind you remember for the rest of your life.
Verse 2
We talked 'til the neon gave way to dawn,
By the time he left, my heart was already gone.
No promises made, just a number and a name,
But nothing round here has ever felt the same.
Chorus
Tex is the reason I can't let go,
Lord, he's the memory carved in my soul.
Every road I take just pulls me through
Tex is the love I keep running back to.
Verse 3
I searched down in Houston, wandered Abilene,
But his shadow lingers in everything.
The jukebox plays and it cuts me in two,
Every song reminds me I'm still tied to you.
Chorus
Tex is the reason I can't let go,
Lord, he's the memory carved in my soul.
Every road I take just pulls me through
Tex is the love I keep running back to.
Bridge
I've called it love, I've called it wrong,
Blamed the whiskey, blamed the song.
Love like that don't fade with time,
It brands you deep it brands your mine.
Verse 4
Night wind whispers low across the plains,
The miles roll on, your name I can't erase.
The thunder may fade, but the feeling stays,
Tex is the silence that still calls my name.
Final Chorus
Tex is the reason I can't let go,
Lord, he's the fire burnin' deep in my soul.
Every road I take just pulls me through
Tex is the love I keep running back to.
