Story Behind The Song
Many moons ago I met a Buddhist yogi with whom I had many splendid conversations and arguments. Somehow he became a gypsy when the song popped up.
Song Description
The Gypsy offers to foretell the future for various baubles, romance, material wealth, status and worldly developments then, in the end, offers Truth in exchange for Love. On the other hand, there's a mention of wisdom that is not acted upon.

Lyrics
The Gypsy

Cross my palm with silver said the gypsy
And the lover of your dreams I'll try to see
I'll tell you if you've happy or you've sad times
And just what kind of man you're going to be
Cross my palm with rubies said the gypsy
And I'll tell if you'll be rich or you'll be poor
There are mansions and Rolls-Royces for the asking
But maybe you're destiny is something more
chorus : Gypsy woman with your eyes in tomorrow
Telling all the World the fate that lies ahead
Why is it that no-one ever listens
To the simple words of wisdom that you've said
Cross my palm with diamonds said the gypsy
And your greatness or obscurity I'll foretell
If you'll stand up and tell the world you're living
Or if you'll stay forever cringing in your shell
chorus :
Cross my palm with gold said the gypsy
And I'll tell you the things you want to know
I'll tell you when Armeggedon is coming
And which way the winds of change are bound to blow
Cross my palm with silver, cross my palm with rubies
Cross my palm with anything you think of
Cross my palm with diamonds and with gold said the gypsy
And I'll show you Truth if you cross my palm with Love
chorus : Gypsy woman with your eyes in tomorrow
Telling all the World the fate that lies ahead
Why is it that no-one ever listens
To the simple words of wisdom that you've said
