Story Behind The Song
Though I have generally no love for soldiers, it does occur to me that so many of them are not there because of a heartfelt desire to join an army. Conditioned through upbringing and peer pressure and forced through cynical economic manipulation. Three square a day and a bed.

Lyrics
Christmas Morn
© bo callaby 2008
The little boy was building castes in the sand
His father said when you grow up you'll help defend our land
The little girl was playing dollies lined in rows
Some wore strips of plaster others bandages with bows
chorus: And the kids came down on Christmas morn
To open up their toys
Nurses outfits for the little girls
Machine guns for the boys
He lined up all his army tanks and armoured cars
Artillery was brought to bear on the enemy afar
Across the empty carpet past chairs and TV screen
He had the finest army this world had ever seen
chorus: And the kids came down on Christmas morn
To open up their toys
Nurses outfits for the little girls
Machine guns for the boys
We wish you a Merry Christmas with lots of good cheer
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
The young girl she was working soldiers lined in rows
She worked all day to help them through their highs and their lows
She couldn't heal their broken spirits couldn't mend their broken bones
And she cried and cried and cried inside to hear their dying moans
chorus: And the kids came down on Christmas morn
To open up their toys
Nurses outfits for the little girls
Machine guns for the boys
And we wish you a Merry Christmas with lots of good cheer
We wish you a Merry Christmas and wish that you were here
