Shakespace has just released their 3rd traditional CD(not including online remix albums.) They formed in 1997 ,in part ,to sponsor 'No Phase', a non-profit annual multi media art and music event hosted by band member Michelle Ferguson. In 1998 they released their self titled debut CD, a space rock lo-fi collection ,recorded in Chapel Hill.Their 2nd CD 'Air Sign Orange' (released in late 2000),was recorded by Ted Comerford in Washington DC ,and mixed in NC by Mitch Easter at Fidelitorium.The songs on the 2nd disc had a more edgy ,art rock feel. 'This Sleeping Heart' is their latest full length offering, and features the band at it's most developed musically,so far. This time around the production and recording was in the hands of Ksine(Shakespace co-founder Jeremy Kolosine) on his 8-track studio in the Blue Ridge Mountains.Though more limited studio-wise ,a more paced approach allowed Shakespace more time to experiment sonically and to further illustrate their arrangement and production capabilities.
