Mark LeGrand and his Lovesick Band play vintage and original honky tonk music with clean arrangements and tight three part haromies. Music jounalist Dave Keller writes; Judging from the photo, you’d guess that he’s pure country. The white 10-gallon hat with the natural tilt. The long sideburns suggesting honky tonk authority. The half-distant look in his eyes that says, “I’ve been there and it ain’t pretty.”
LeGrand would be the first to admit that there is plenty of country in his music. He credits Hank Williams, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson as deep inspirations. Nelson, in particular, seems especially present in LeGrand’s voice. But his witty and wise songs are also influenced by songwriters such as John Hiatt, and his honest approach is shot through with blues feeling.
