Lisa Lazo
Lisa Lazo is the sexiest, most alluring singer/songwriter to emerge from Texas in many years. On the cusp of ripeness, her music is immediately empowering and hypnotic. Lisa Lazo?s beautiful voice is strong, passionate, and audiences are moved by the emotion evoked by her performances. This Texas producer/composer writes lyrics and songs perfect for our world; full of honesty, straight talk, poetic skill, and reflect her soul?s inner peace. Raised on mainstream American pop radio of the late 70?s and 80?s, a self taught MIDI programmer by age 15, and a classically trained musician who embraced the ideals from her composition professors to think ?outside the box?, it is no wonder Lisa is influenced by artists such as Madonna, Bjork, Tori Amos, Lisa Gerrard, and UK bands Massive Attack and Portishead. She currently strives to keep her palette diverse as a vocalist and writer by collaborating with DJs, producers, and film composers in many genres including, but not limited to, reggae, jazz, electronica, pop, rock, and dance.
All For Love, a song written and performed by Lazo caught the ears of Greg Bahary, aka Hot 22, owner of New Jersey dance label Gossip Records. The track came out of a collaboration with internationally known producers and resident DJs from Miami, Granite and Phunk. All For Love is now in its final production stages with Gossip and is to be released in France, Germany, and England in 2007.
Lisa Lazo is not just a recording artist and songwriter, but a visionary with an entrepreneurial mindset. She has recently recorded her first self-produced dance track, Just Do It, with beats produced and engineered by Brian (B*WAR) Guerra and Saleem Razvi of Guerra Records. She is very excited about this track because of its upbeat, empowering message and its strong commercial potential. She plans to expand her skills as a publisher and label owner by initially marketing the track on her own. She will also be participating in Miami?s most anticipated international music conference of the year, Winter Music Conference 2007, to promote herself as a recording artist/songwriter, and producer. She is also paving the way for other new artists in the Dallas music scene who are seeking careers in music to proactively take matters into their own hands. She is the founder of LIVE MIX, an educational music industry-networking event that just celebrated its one-year anniversary and showcased her new music. This monthly event brings together local industry professionals and musicians into local music venues to network, showcase local talent, and to discuss current issues in the quickly changing entertainment industry.
Lisa has also worked on projects that have led her to L.A. and London. In the spring of 2006, Lisa composed the song, Only You, for an independent feature length film, Things You Don?t Tell, which premiered at the Kodak screening room in Los Angeles. Then in late July, Lisa took the opportunity to contribute her jazz vocal skills with Dawson?s New Rage at various venues in London, including Jazz After Dark in Soho. Enthusiastic about her performances, Mike Dawson, band leader of Dawson?s New Rage, has not only requested Lisa Lazo to be a guest lead vocalist, but also a co-writer on his fifth album release. This record will be recorded in L.A. with Grammy nominee Texas producer/engineer, Chris Bell.
As you can see, Lisa Lazo has been keeping herself busy and this is just the beginning. Her plan includes the release of her highly anticipated EP, Departure, which will be engineered/co-produced by Grammy nominated engineer, Eric Zimmermann and launched on her own independent label, Divine Girl Records in 2007. You can count on Lisa to take time out of her busy schedule to walk the red carpet at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards Ceremony. In fact, at the rate this diverse, multi-talented artist is working, it won?t be a surprise to see her claiming her own Grammy Award very soon!
