Press Release
This is spot on roots music ala Gillian Welch or Nanci Griffeth. Letty and Georgia have really hit their stride with 3rd release plain and simple. This album delivers songs of substance replete with pathos, but and understated, soft cast, shadow of a smile: a promise of proud accomplishment and happiness along the way. From first track "Hoeing Cotton", a heart-wrenching rendition of Georgia's family history on Sand Mountain, to title track "Plain and Simple", Letty and Georgia's themes are reminiscent of Southern culture and thirty-something. The last track "Today I long for lives I cannot lead, friends I have neglected, places I cannot be..." closes the door leaving the listener longing for spent moments, relishing past memories and having a renewed faith in the present.
