For as long as I can remember music has been a huge factor in my life. I was raised in a religious family and spent a great deal of time going to church with my grandmother as a child. It was there that I was first introduced to music on a spiritual level. I learned about spirituals and hymns like those that the slaves used to relay messages to one another, tell stories, and uplift their spirits. I knew already then that through my music I wanted to tell these same kinds of stories. My life was further influenced throughout the years by the various artists who were popular in the era at the time and I found that the artists and songs that people most related to are the ones that told a story, made them feel good, or one that they could relate to. I grew up in the inner city and was exposed to drugs, sex, and violence at an early age which caused me to be curious about the "street life".
