Kerry "Poppa Smurf" Jordan
Kerry "Poppa Smurf" Jordan, is a long time resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, though his musical talents have taken him around the United States. As a professional musician, he has played the bass over 40 years.
Kerry toured as the bassist for R&B's national artist Millie Jackson, performing in her "Facts of Life" group. In addition, while working as a session musician for Bi-Sarge Productions on the East Coast, his bass lines can be found on albums ranging from Country Western to serious R&B and Funk.
Kerry wrote and produced material for the Cincinnati Music Festival, and has played regionally for various groups including Munique, The DW Project, The Groove Society, and Kim Taylor.
At present, Kerry's production company, "JBASSO", is involved extensively with the production projects of D'Mar Entertainment Company's artists. As the Musical Director, Song Writer, Arranger and Producer for Ms. Jaz, Kerry's musical talent can be experienced on her two CD releases, "Chances" released in 2002 and "Me Too Live" released in 2005.
His musical versatility has garnished him the opportunity to play with a wide variety of musicians in the genres of Jazz, Gospel, Rock and R&B. Some of the acts are Ronnie Laws, Bobby Blue Bland, Pam Williams (the Saxtress), Alphonso Thomas and Phil Perry.
Kerry's smooth jazz group "JAMSET" has released their 2012 CD/EP titled "Live and Jazzin' It Up" on the DMAR Entertainment label and he has been featured in the February 2012 edition of Bass Player magazine.
