Ken Grant, 19, is a hip hop artist and producer with a background in jazz performance. He began his musical training with classical piano at age four, and then saxophone at age 10. He became immersed in jazz, studying under musicians such as Will Vinson, Don Braden, and Jimmy Greene and beginning to perform in the New England area at age 16 where he played gigs from fundraising events to private parties to the Litchfield Jazz Festival. In 2007, Wynton Marsalis awarded Ken an Outstanding Saxophone Soloist Award at the Essentially Ellington Jazz competition in New York City. In 2008, one of Ken Grant's jazz compositions, "Mr. Z," was Awarded Second Place in the Teen Category of the International Songwriting Competition with over 15,000 entries worldwide. "Mr. Z" was also a nominee in the 2007 LA Music Awards.
Ken Grant has been writing music for seven years now and is pursuing his music through the hip hop/ r&b genre.
