The song "I Wish You Would" is presented in the memory of Matt Trowbridge who died suddenly in October 2008. The band is no more but we had a great run at some music and this song is one of my favorites... probably because there is a lot of harp but also because of Matt's great guitar work. ..... Matt was a gifted vocalist and song writer too. "Hey Bop" is based on an old Lionel Hampton number that Matt modified a bit. Please listen and hopefully enjoy.
In the photo L to R we have Mark Ruzity, Matt Trowbridge, Tim Hopwood and me. The drummer Dave Wieler is "out-a-sight"........
The Band...............
"I Wish You Would" was performed by:
Matt Trowbridge - very tasty lead guitar
Mark Ruzity - vocals & rhythm guitar
Paul Swain - bass guitar
Jim Koryta - harmonica
Matt Trowbridge:
Matt started the band The New Delta Cats in Bloomington Indiana back in the 1980's and played with The Blue Rivieras for several years. He was a great guy, a lot of fun to be around, and a very talented guitar player and singer. But most important he was a nice man and a good friend.
Mark Ruzity:
Mark is a local guitarist and song writer with a claim to fame of having a published song called : "When the Cubs Win the Pennant". This was performed by an all star cast from the Bloomington & Indianapolis area and is available on CD. Pick up a copy if you are a Cubs fan! In fact, pick one up even if you aren't a Cubs fan! "Roo" is also, another very good friend.
Jim Koryta:
I've been playing blues harmonica for about 15 years now. It is the one and only musical instrument I play, which may say a lot about my natural skills! I've always been fortunate to be surrounded by great players, which just makes it better for me. Am in a bit of flux right now, so anything posted will be a few months to a few years past.
"Hey Bop" is a Matt Trowbridge twist on a Lionel Hampton song from years back and was performed by:
Matt Trowbridge - vocals & lead guitar
Mark Ruzity - rhythm guitar
Paul Swain - bass guitar
Jim Koryta - harmonica
For the "record" these recordings were made in a garage so they are rough but fun cuts. Some other of Matt's original numbers might be uploaded in the future.......... Thanks for listening......
